A Very Special Celebration

Fiddlina rushed in. Her face all aglow
‘it’s a boy!’ she yelled. And twiddled her bow.

The band gave a cheer and all settled down.
‘What do we do?’ said Tich with a frown.
‘How about we bake a nice cake?’
‘Or something cuddly. What can we make?’
‘We can always make a nice big card?’
Said Quiffy. ‘That won’t be too hard.’
The mice all nodded and scurried away
To get string and paper, card and clay.
Quiffy laid out lots of bits of card
And stuck them with tape to keep them hard.
Keys and Bongo got big felt pens
And drew lots of lines at all the ends.
Sachmo got lots of glitter and glue
And stuck most of it to the top of his shoe.
Quiffy started drawing a teddy bear
But wasn’t too sure what teddy bear’s wear.
Twangy thought hard about what he could do
Then decided to colour in lots of blue.
Tich thought hard and wrote a few words
While Tupper drew lots of pretty bluebirds
Fiddlina and Tina had lots of fun
Gluing flowers all over, until it was done.

They were all very pleased with their work at the end,
And off to the post box the card to send
What had they put in the card you say?
They’re celebrating a special day.
Congratulations to Kate and Wills
Young baby George brought lot of thrills.
The mice hope that lots of joy he’ll bring,

And can’t wait to see young George become king

A Mousey Valentine's Day

The mice loaded the bus for a special gig.
They hoped the crowd would be happy and big.
They’d been booked for a very special mouse dance,
Full of presents and dancing and lots of romance.
They got to the hall, and set up the stands
As mice wandered in all holding  hands.
Scriffy scribe sat at a table
By the door from where he was able
To collect the money for the mice to get in
And he popped it all in to a big tin.
Monty was giving the tickets out
So he knew they’d all paid without a doubt.

The annual Valentine’s Day Mouse Ball
Was held in a big, decorated, balloon filled hall.
With tables on one side and space on the other
For mice to step up and dance with each other.

The lights went down, they started to play,
And the mice at the tables started to sway.
While the band played the other mice ate,
Lovely meals sat on every plate.
The band moved round the room to play for the mice.
A mouse serenade was awfully nice.

Keys had left the piano at home.
An accordion he’d taken allowed him to roam
Around the tables, where all the mice dined
To play for them all as they sat to unwind.

While Fiddlina was fiddling to two small mice,
She had to stop and look at them twice.
She heard a splash and a little ding
At the bottom of a glass she saw a ring.

Sachmo played trumpet around the hall
When he thought he saw a little mouse fall
On to the floor and on to one knee.
His mouse friend went red. ‘You can’t mean me’

The Triangle Trio were clanging they way
Around the tables, for Valentine’s Day.
They saw a mouse with a single red rose
Which he put underneath his girlfriend’s nose.

Bongo tucked his drums up under his arm
Dressed in his tux, he was terribly calm.
2 mice were sitting staring hard
At great big pink, heart shaped card.

Twangy Doodles was strumming his way
Around the tables, he’d stop and play.
On one table he saw a great big box,
Full to the brim with heart shaped chocs.

Quiffy was playing his sax very low,
Romantic music’s so hard to blow.
He saw 2 mice holding paws through the meal.
He thought it was odd, and turned fast on his heel.

After the dinner the band got on stage.
And the other mice danced to tunes all the rage.
Monty Snuffles was cutting a rug
The jive,  the waltz  and a mouse jitterbug
Even Scriffy joined in the fun
Dancing around with everyone.

The mice all had such wonderful time
They were awfully sad to hear the clock chime
The party ended right on midnight,
Then all the mice went, soon out of sight.

The band then packed everything away.
It had been an interesting Valentines day.
The girls were all smiling, they thought it romantic.
The Boys thought it soppy and got on the van, quick.

Merry Christmouse!

The mice were excited, t’was Christmouse Eve.

They put up the tree with a great mousey heave.

They put on the tinsel, the lights and the star.

Was the best looking Christmouse tree by far.

They all hung their stockings up over the fire

And one by one they began to tire.
Fiddlina and Tina had made the mince pies.

While Quiffy was checking the turkey’s size

To check it went in to the oven okay,

And Bongo was tidying their mess away.

Tich and Tupper were cutting up string

To tie up the paper the gifts were wrapped in.

Sachmo got pies and some ginger beer

For Santa Paws and all his mousedeer.

The heating was being checked by Keys

To make sure it was warm, and they wouldn’t freeze.

Twangy Doodles was in the snow

To make sure the Mice were able to go

Out in to the snow the next day to play.

Snowballs all round for Christmas day.

One by one they went off to bed.

‘It’s certainly been a long day,’ Sachmo said.

But he just couldn’t get himself off to sleep,

So down the stairs he decided to creep.

He looked out the window and what did he see?

He had to stop from shouting with glee.

High in the sky and well on their way

The mousedeer were pulling Santa’s sleigh.

Sachmo watched from behind the chair,

As the mousedeer manoeuvred the sleigh with care.

Then he heard Santa mutter an ‘oooof’

As the sleigh landed gently on the roof.

He watched very carefully, making sure,

He could not be seen, not even a paw.

He heard an odd noise, and then it stopped.

Then on to the hearth a huge sack popped.

No sign of Santa? Where could he be?

Oh heavens he was stuck inside the chimney!

Sachmo waited, not sure what to do.

Santa would surely go away if he knew

That someone was awake and watching inside.

Did he go and help or did he just hide.

Then all of a sudden he saw Santa’s boot

Land in the hearth all covered in soot.

Santa was stuck. All Sachmo saw was a paw.

Then all of a sudden he fell on the floor.

Poor Santa was covered from head to toe

In soot. He stood and let out a fearful blow,

And shook himself off until Sachmo could see

His suit and his hat and with its bobble furry.

He brushed himself off and looked all around.

Then on tiptoe, so not to make a sound

He took all the stockings down one by one,

And filled them with presents, with lots of fun.

When he’d finished he saw the small plate,

Drank the ginger beer and then ate

All of the mince pies. Every last one!

No wonder Santa Paws had a large tum.

Then Sachmo blinked twice as he saw a rope fall

Down the chimney, and watched Santa haul

Himself back up and out onto the roof.

He ran to the window and just saw a hoof

Push them back off and they were away

To leave presents for someone else’s big day.

He sat in the chair and before he knew

He was fast asleep and snoring too.

‘Wake up everyone,’ said Bongo next day.

Santa Paws has been. Let’s go and play.’

Off they all ran, eager to see,

What the goodies inside their stockings would be.

Fiddlina got down her stocking first.

And as she opened it out of it burst

A huge, new bow in bright, shiny red.

She put it proudly on her head.

Tich, Tupper and Tina could wait no more

And tipped their stockings on to the floor.

Out it all fell with a terrible bang.

3 shiny new sticks to make triangles clang.

‘Me next,’ said Keys as he very carefully

Felt inside his stocking to see.

Out of its wrapping some gloves he pulled

To keep his paws warm when the piano was cold.

Said Bongo ‘My stocking feels awfully full.’

And then he unwrapped a nice wooden stool.

‘I don’t need to sit on the floor anymore

To play my bongos. It got quite sore.’

Sachmo then pulled his gift off the hearth

And opened up a nice, stripy scarf.

‘I say,’ he said, ‘Now how about that.

It goes perfectly with my nice stripy hat.’

Twangy Doodles was next to go

And he unpacked a great big bow:

A  tie with coloured squares and dots.

He tied it swiftly in a knot.

Quiffy went last and was eager to see

Just what his gift from Santa would be.

He pulled out a comb with its own metal case.

Just right for keeping his hair in place.

They put all their gifts under the tree

To make sure each of them got to see

The lovely presents Santa Paws brought.

Then as it was Christmas they thought they ought

To sing some carols, Good King Wencemouse,

And soon their music filled up the house.

Happy Christmouse to all from the Bongo Mouse Band.

May you have as much fun as in Bongo Mouse land.
